Remote (Global) Employment $70,000/year

Sparkrock is hiring a Technical Product Manager (OTE $70,000/year USD)

About the Role

Shape the future of financial systems for mission-driven organizations. As a Technical Product Manager, you'll drive the technical vision and product design for a core Finance ERP platform serving non-profits and K–12 institutions. Your work will directly influence how these organizations manage accounting, reporting, and compliance at scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and own the technical roadmap for key financial modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Receivable, budgeting, fund accounting, reporting, and integrations.
  • Collaborate with customers, implementation teams, and finance stakeholders to turn complex accounting workflows into clear, actionable technical requirements.
  • Design secure, auditable, and scalable backend systems—covering data models, APIs, workflows, and integration patterns—with compliance and performance as top priorities.
  • Work hand-in-hand with engineering, QA, and customer success to ensure technical feasibility, maintainability, and alignment with long-term product goals.
  • Document functional and technical specifications, decision rationales, and system diagrams to guide development and support future audits.
  • Balance trade-offs across functionality, security, and scalability while ensuring accounting accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
  • Prepare features for production with rollout plans, documentation, and clear communication across teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software, with roles in technical consulting, architecture, development, or solution design.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a Technical Product Manager or similar technical product ownership role.
  • Proven background in ERP finance systems or large-scale financial platforms, with deep understanding of general ledger, fund accounting, budgeting, audits, and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience designing secure, scalable backend systems, REST APIs, event-driven integrations, and financial data models.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure—particularly Azure, though AWS experience is acceptable.
  • Knowledge of access controls, audit logging, and security best practices in financial software.
  • Direct experience in non-profit, public sector, or K–12 finance environments is highly valued.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical engineers and finance professionals, translating accounting concepts into robust system designs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort navigating ambiguity and evolving requirements.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks, internal controls, and audit readiness in financial systems.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations or migrations is a plus.

Our Environment

Support includes a home office stipend and opportunities to connect through virtual events like coffee chats, cooking classes, and book clubs. We prioritize inclusive culture, continuous learning, and career growth with structured feedback and access to cutting-edge technology.

Compensation & Work Model

This role offers an OTE of $70,000 per year USD. We are a 100% remote, global team with asynchronous workflows. There’s no expectation to be online at specific times—just a shared commitment to delivering value and supporting our customers.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We believe diverse perspectives lead to better products and stronger teams. We actively encourage applications from women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ2SI individuals, veterans, and people with disabilities.
