GE HealthCare is hiring a Technical Leader – Civil Structural Engineering (Remote Eligible, U.S.)

About the Role

GE HealthCare is seeking a Technical Leader – Civil Structural Engineering to provide technical direction for civil engineering activities supporting New Plants Engineering projects. In this role, you will collaborate with a global team of partners and suppliers to successfully deliver New Nuclear Plant Projects, ensuring designs meet rigorous technical and regulatory standards.

What You'll Do

  • Provide Technical Leadership of a small group of Engineers and Contractors in analysis, calculation, and technical evaluations to resolve design issues.
  • Lead and guide a technical team in performing seismic and soil-structure interaction (SSI) analyses.
  • Manage project work schedules and priorities.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership in your area of expertise.
  • Work within a team environment to execute work plans within budget and schedule.
  • Support civil systems design and equipment construction activities, respond to vendor questions, and review vendor document submittals.
  • Support the certification processes for GE Products to address all US NRC or other nuclear regulator design certification requirements.
  • Establish and maintain technical oversight of applicable regulations.
  • Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, licensing, and regulatory authorities.
  • Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documents.
  • Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews.
  • Manage the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned systems using sound engineering principles.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in civil structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineer registration in one or more states.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology.

Nice to Have

  • Strong background in seismic analysis, harmonic and time history analysis, soil-structure interaction analyses, ANSYS and SASSI software experience.
  • Master’s Degree or greater in an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of Nuclear or Industrial Technology or Engineering experience.
  • Nuclear Industry knowledge or experience.
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering principles and mechanical or structural design fundamentals.
  • Strong communication, writing, facilitation, team building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000).
  • Strong analytical capabilities, problem solving and process skills.
  • High level of personal integrity, detail-oriented, accountable for results.
  • Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment.
  • A self-starter willing to take initiative.

You will lead a small group of Engineers and Contractors, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers, and will report to a Manager.

Work Mode

This position is remote eligible within the U.S. The preferred location is Wilmington, NC (GEH Headquarters), supporting a hybrid work mode.
