Virtuos China Limited is looking for a Technical Art Director to bridge creative ambition and technical reality for world-class visual fidelity. You will define the technical art vision, architect robust pipelines, and serve as a strategic partner to both clients and internal leadership.
What You'll Do
- Define and drive technical art standards and visual benchmarks across all art disciplines.
- Spearhead research and adoption of emerging technologies.
- Serve as a strategic partner to Art Directors, Producers, and Studio leadership.
- Lead pre-production planning and technical assessments to mitigate risks.
- Mentor team members and foster a culture of technical excellence.
- Establish professional standards for documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Lead the team in solving complex architectural challenges.
- Architect scalable End-to-End (E2E) art pipelines optimized for platform performance.
- Collaborate to conceive and refine global pipelines across Virtuos studios.
- Act as the primary technical liaison and trusted advisor for clients.
- Ensure all technical output meets world-class standards.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Art, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5+ years as a Lead Technical Artist or Technical Art Director in the video game industry.
- At least one shipped AAA title.
- Deep understanding of the end-to-end game art pipeline.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Python, C#, C++) to review, guide, and prototype.
- Strong understanding of game engine technologies (Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Solid grasp of rendering, performance optimization, and platform constraints.
- Experience collaborating with Art Directors, Producers, and Technical Directors to influence strategic decisions.
- Experience architecting scalable workflows and pipeline solutions for multiple teams, projects, and platforms.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and motivate art and technical art teams.
- Passionate about video games and up to date with the latest industry trends.
