UBC Sauder School of Business is hiring a Team Lead – Food Services to be a key operational support during busy meal services. In this role, you will help ensure smooth, efficient service in our residence dining operations by coordinating frontline staff and responding to guest needs.
What You'll Do
- Act as the primary liaison for service provision, guest inquiries, and staff deployment during peak times.
- Monitor and adjust work assignments for service staff to meet changing needs and replenishment requirements.
- Oversee service staff to ensure performance expectations are met.
- Collaborate with Sales Associates, dishwashers, student workers, and culinary staff to deliver on service goals.
- Manage service staff breaks to maintain sufficient coverage during peak periods.
- Step in to help with specific duties on the service line as needed.
- Report issues, feedback, or suggestions to the shift supervisor.
- Carry out other related duties consistent with the role.
What We're Looking For
- High school graduation.
- FoodSafe Level 1 and Serving It Right certificates.
- A minimum of three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including those in conflict with your own.
- A demonstrated commitment to enhancing your awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Nice to Have
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a service environment.
- The ability to make accurate and rapid calculations.
- Experience providing direction on service procedures within a team-based residence dining environment.
- Effective communication, customer service, and supervisory skills.
- The ability to work flexible hours.
- Awareness of climate action objectives and their integration within strategic business goals.
Team & Environment
You will report to Food Service Supervisors and/or a Unit Manager. In this role, you will allocate work, provide instruction, and monitor the work of food service staff.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation is $24.24 - $25.52 CAD per hour, inclusive of a 1% wage differential.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position.
