Southwest Christian School is hiring a full-time First Grade Teacher to join our academic community. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program that guides students academically and spiritually. You will help develop our distinctively Christian, academically excellent, and globally minded school environment.
What You'll Do
- Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program that guides and encourages students to fulfill their academic potential.
- Promote positive spiritual development of students.
- Provide appropriate classroom instruction and assessment, incorporating a biblical worldview, across all subject areas for first grade students.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and supports high expectations for learning.
- Use available resources, including various technologies, to deliver instruction and assess student learning.
- Maintain clear, open, professional communication with team members, parents, and other school employees.
- Exhibit a willingness to participate in the school community by supporting, sponsoring, and/or leading extracurricular activities.
- Prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and families.
- Cooperate with administrators, department chairpersons, and other school leadership to implement policies and procedures.
- Follow Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict.
- Participate in professional development activities and the evaluation process.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- A current ACSI and/or State Teaching Certificate.
- A deep commitment to a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ through prayer, devotional study, and church membership.
- Ability to work gracefully with parents, students, and other school staff.
- Ability to accept and carry out responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions.
- Maintain a professional personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree.
- Three or more years of classroom teaching experience.
- Capturing Kids Hearts or similar Social-Emotional Learning professional development training.
- Experience using technology for instruction, productivity, and innovation (Google Suite/Classroom).
