The State of Colorado Department of Revenue is hiring a Teacher to deliver entry-level marketable job skills within an adult correctional educational facility. In this role, you will provide instruction and mentorship in Customer Service curriculum while playing a key part in maintaining facility safety and security.
What You'll Do
- Teach and mentor inmate students individually or in group classrooms to promote occupational, academic, and transitional performance skills.
- Determine educational needs and develop short and long-term goals for students.
- Plan course content and develop methods of instruction, including competency-based teaching aids.
- Deliver lectures on the theories, concepts, and terminology of customer service.
- Select and administer performance assessments to measure progress and training effectiveness.
- Ensure security, safety, and supervision of inmate students, including the proper use and inventory of equipment and materials.
- Prepare reports and maintain student records, including grades, attendance, and training activity details.
- Observe and evaluate student work to determine progress, provide feedback, and suggest improvements.
- Document student achievements, competencies, and contact hours toward certificate completion.
- Provide oversight and coordination of the Computer Based Testing lab, including test proctoring and record security.
- Justify the accuracy and usage of budget requests.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, and training to stay current in the field.
- Commit to teamwork and collaboration with fellow teachers.
- Contribute to facility safety through effective offender management and promoting conflict resolution.
- Endorse and adhere to the CDOC Mission and Vision.
- Maintain a Colorado Community College credential.
- Maintain safety and security by training inmates and occasionally performing counts, shakedowns, searches, escorts, movement control, and managing classroom access.
