Palmetto is hiring a Tax Director, Partnerships and Tax Equity

Palmetto is looking for a Tax Director, Partnerships and Tax Equity to be a key strategic leader on the Finance Team. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will have oversight of all partnership and tax equity tax matters, partnering with corporate tax and cross-functional teams to drive operational and tax efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the completion of partnership federal and state income tax returns, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Establish and maintain the cash tax forecast model incorporating inputs from expected partnership distributions.
• Provide strategic guidance and oversight for tax planning initiatives.
• Serve as the primary liaison with external partnership tax advisors and tax authorities.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and guidance upon the request of tax equity partners.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls over accounting and reporting for income taxes.
• Oversee and provide guidance related to tax credit registrations and transfers.
• Stay informed about legislative changes in tax law and assess their impact on the company.
• Review partnership and joint venture tax-related general ledger account reconciliations.
• Review periodic hypothetical liquidation at book value (HLBV) calculations for tax equity funds.
• Prepare and review tax equity fund annual workpapers and tax return filings as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management to achieve company objectives.
• Handle ad-hoc and special projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 10 years of tax experience.
• Solid understanding of partnership tax concepts.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a team-based environment.
• Excellent team player.
• Available for occasional travel.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

Nice to Have

• CPA certification with previous experience at a Big 4 accounting firm strongly preferred.
• Renewable energy Investment Tax Credit experience a plus.
• Tax equity investor experience a plus.
