BDO USA, P.C. is looking for a Tax Associate, International Tax Services to apply their educational background and organizational skills within a collaborative team environment. This role is an entry point into consulting with clients on cross-border tax matters, taking direction from more experienced team members while building expertise in international tax law and compliance.
What You'll Do
- Develop, recommend, and implement critical thinking to provide clients with tax advice on international tax issues.
- Gain exposure to the development of work plans for all assigned clients.
- Learn about international tax law relevant to particular clients and how to appropriately apply it to client facts.
- Monitor tax law and client factual developments on a daily basis.
- Coordinate with BDO non-US colleagues in approximately 160 countries on how US tax rules align with foreign tax law to impact client transactions.
- Begin to develop an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding International taxation.
- Identify when research is necessary, frame issues, identify sources, retrieve information, analyze facts and authorities, and report on analysis.
- Assist in preparing Written Tax Advice (WTA) on international tax and cross-border transactions.
- Assist in obtaining required client information to utilize in the preparation of international tax compliance forms and US international informational reporting.
- Use Firm tax compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Understand international tax compliance topics such as Subpart F income, Earnings and Profits adjustments, foreign tax credits, and analyzing cross-border transactions for tax return impacts.
- Learn about representing clients before the IRS on contested issues.
- Use tax research databases such as RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis.
- Use Go Systems and other tax-related software with some supervision.
- Develop a basic understanding of ASC 740-10 as it applies to international tax issues.
- Understand and apply Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree
Nice to Have
- Accounting or other business-related major
- J.D., LL.M, and/or MST/MBT
- Internship within a professional services firm
- Tax experience
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience utilizing RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis and/or Westlaw

- Colorado Range: $78,000 - $120,000
