About the Role
The engineer will lead security planning and execution across system development lifecycles, ensuring protection of critical technologies through structured risk management and compliance with government requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop program protection plans for complex defense systems
- Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments
- Implement security controls across hardware and software components
- Support system accreditation and certification processes
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security early in design
- Maintain compliance with Department of Defense security standards
- Perform risk analysis for technology development programs
- Guide secure configuration management practices
- Assist in supply chain risk mitigation strategies
- Document security requirements and validation results
- Lead security reviews during system development phases
- Evaluate third-party vendor security postures
- Support export control and technology release approvals
- Ensure alignment with national security policies
- Track security metrics and program progress
- Prepare briefing materials for internal and government stakeholders
- Respond to security audit findings
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving cyber threats
- Integrate physical and cyber security measures
- Support incident response planning for protected programs
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in cybersecurity or systems engineering
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISSP-ISSAP
- Experience with classified program protection plans
- Prior work on DoD or intelligence community programs
- Knowledge of zero trust architecture principles
- Experience with DevSecOps environments
- Background in hardware security validation
- Familiarity with red team/blue team exercises
- Understanding of cryptographic system integration
- Experience with secure test range operations
