  • Provide support for project reviews.
  • Assist in requirement management including support reviewing requirements flow-down from Space Segment System to subsystems/units, including interfaces, and help maintain requirement traceability and the requirements database / VCD (Verification Control Document).
  • Support identification of main system drivers for design, evaluation, and trade studies, and assist project design trade-off discussions.
  • Contribute to the consolidation and tracking of system budgets across the project lifecycle to support compliance checks.
  • Provide support to verification activities at mission/ground level, including support to handle non-conformances, deviations, and waivers.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating space segment system interfaces with the other segment elements (like ground).
  • Contribute to operations concept discussions and support FDIR (Failure, Detection, Isolation and Recovery) definition.
  • Provide inputs for project reporting, highlight possible risk areas, and support implementation of agreed improvements or mitigation measures.
  • Collaborate with operations, ground segment, and (when needed) End-toEnd/Mission system teams.

  • Support ESA project teams in the preparation, review, and consolidation of FDIR documentation for all mission phases, ensuring consistency with internal processes and engineering standards.
  • Contribute to the definition and refinement of the FDIR concept in alignment with the overall system design and engineering constraints within projects.
  • Assist in applying a rigorous and traceable engineering process for demonstrating the adequacy and fitness-for-purpose of FDIR solutions within projects.
  • Support the collection, organisation, verification, and dissemination of FDIR related information within the project team and to ensure consistency across design artefacts.
  • Provide technical support to the project team in internal discussions regarding the identification of residual risks and the evaluation of FDIR strategies.
  • Support the collection and analysis of operational data and lessons learned from missions, contributing to the continuous improvement of FDIR concepts, methods, and documentation for future projects.
  • Contribute to FDIR-related activities within the Concurrent Design Facility (CDF), including the preparation of technical inputs and participation in internal sessions.
  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of FDIR-related internal standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Support the maintenance and regular update of the ESA FDIR Handbook, including the collection, documentation, and integration of lessons learned and current engineering practices to promote reuse and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with internal R&D activities focused on advancing FDIR methodologies, tools, and techniques, including the exploration and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital twin technologies.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of internal FDIR training materials, presentations, and documentation.
  • Support the activities of the FDIR Competence Centre in terms knowledge consolidation, tool harmonisation, and internal process alignment.
  • Assist in the identification and promotion of synergies across projects in order to strengthen FDIR engineering practices within the ESA directorates.
