Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager - Level 2 (SEIT Department Manager) to join its Launch Vehicles business unit. In this role, you will provide technical, administrative, and management expertise to a team supporting the Space Based Interceptor program, with the majority of your time dedicated to direct program development and support.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct Systems Engineering support to program(s), including attending program meetings and providing technical oversight and team management.
- Prepare the SEIT team for customer meetings and key presentations.
- Represent the SEIT department in key program meetings, verifying approach abides by department standards.
- Provide technical oversight by reviewing key SEIT products, analyses, and models for compliance.
- Provide technical leadership and resource management to ensure timely resolution of issues impacting launch vehicle design and verification.
- Help resolve complex technical issues related to core and specialty systems engineering, including failure analysis and corrective actions.
- Prepare periodic technical reports and presentations for senior management.
- Functionally manage approximately 10-15 systems engineers, including writing/conducting quarterly connection notes, providing feedback, and assessing staffing needs.
- Support management of department metrics and maintenance of Department processes, standards, and command media.
- Ensure employee training, onboard new hires, mentor engineers, and approve timesheets.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years; OR PhD in STEM with 4 years.
- Have or ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Aerospace experience.
- Ability to travel.
Nice to Have
- Experience with functional management of an engineering team.
- Program execution experience.
- A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems Engineering fundamentals.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
- Multi-Disciplinary Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) experience.
- Experience with Earned Value Management System and managing a Cost Account.
- Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira.
Team & Environment
You will manage a team of approximately 10-15 systems engineers and report to a Senior Department Manager who oversees Systems Engineers supporting Targets and Interceptor programs, Digital Engineering, and Business Development.
