Samsung Electronics Canada is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in 4G/5G Call Processing for the RAN domain. You will be responsible for developing product requirements, leading deep-dive technical customer sessions, and providing expert support in the pre-sales process. You will join our wireless network team to drive the technical direction of our products.
What You'll Do
- Analyze customer requirements, convert them into system requirements, and capture detailed designs for the development team.
- Lead all technical discussions on Samsung products and scheduler-related features with customer teams, including RAN Development and RAN performance groups.
- Deliver technical proposals, white papers, design documents, operator network designs, RFI/RFP responses, and patent filings.
- Aid in product and feature performance analysis, evaluation of new product and software releases, and third-party product evaluation.
- Provide expert technical support in the pre-sales process and create compelling technical and commercial solutions.
- Translate and communicate complex technical design considerations between the Samsung sales team and carriers’ network business.
- Educate customers on Samsung’s new products and services and ensure customer commitments are achieved according to plan.
- Lead field integration testing efforts (FFA/FIT/FSA) of all 4G/5G key features with customers, including test plan development, execution, and issue analysis.
- Provide Tier 3 support by analyzing and troubleshooting scheduler-related issues reported from customer labs, field sites, and production networks.
- Review and provide recommendations to improve LTE RAN network performance by evaluating KPIs, performing trials, and providing optimization guidelines.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of technical experience in Wireless Telecommunication Engineering, including experience with 4G/5G Call Processing.
- In-depth knowledge of RRC, S1-MME, S1-U, and X2 protocols and understanding of concepts like Hybrid Beamforming, Massive MIMO, New Waveforms, LTE-NR interworking, and 5G Numerologies.
- Fluency with 3GPP RAN product architecture, design, implementation, and performance improvements (KPIs).
- Thorough understanding of 3GPP specification for LTE, LTE-A, and 5G features and protocols.
- Working knowledge of various RF antenna technologies and network optimizations.
- Ability to travel sporadically during projects.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience with ongoing 3GPP Rel-15/16 activities is beneficial.
- Good understanding of scheduler functionality.
- Experience with feature requirements identification, feature description documentation, parameter optimization, performance analysis, test strategy creation, and problem troubleshooting.
