The Homeland Decision Support Systems Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory is hiring a Systems Engineer to solve complex problems in homeland protection. You will analyze large-scale systems, build software models, and develop recommendations that inform national security leadership.
What You'll Do
- Understand the development of complex systems and implement software and models based on first principles.
- Develop recommendations to inform government leadership on challenging homeland protection problems.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop technologies for complex systems.
- Engage with the academic and government community through publications and conference attendance.
What We're Looking For
- Doctorate or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, or related discipline. In lieu of a PhD, a Master's degree and 3 years' relevant experience will be considered.
- Ability to quickly learn new technical areas and apply that knowledge to solve challenging mission problems.
- Ability to clearly present technical concepts to a wide spectrum of audiences.
- Proficient at two or more high-level prototyping software languages (e.g., Python, Java, Julia, Matlab).
- Ability to develop, implement, test and evaluate novel algorithms and concepts.
- Experience leading a technical team.
- The ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects at once.
- Intellectual curiosity and desire to lead exploration into new technical areas in support of the group's mission.
Nice to Have
- Expertise in processing large datasets and data exploitation techniques.
- Experience mentoring less-experienced staff.
- Knowledge of sensors and sensing modalities, physics of sensor operation.

- Compensation ranges: $145,200 - $170,000 for recent graduates; $145,200 - $220,000 for experienced candidates.
