Vodafone is seeking a System Engineering Expert to join our team. You will design, implement, optimise, and support the cloud and infrastructure software solutions used across VOIS. In this key role, you'll develop automation, define technical requirements, configure virtualised environments, and contribute significantly to both cloud and on‑premise IT projects.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the full lifecycle of IT projects, including technical requirements definition, solution evaluation, planning, configuration, and implementation.
- Develop scripts and programs in Bash, KSH, Python, Perl, or similar languages to automate processes or enhance functional capabilities.
- Design, configure, and integrate solutions involving operating systems and virtualisation technologies.
- Build and test disaster recovery solutions, including scenario planning and periodic DR validation.
- Optimise existing architectures or upgrade software components to improve efficiency or meet evolving business needs.
- Provide support for transformation projects and technology refresh initiatives to enhance availability, performance, and resilience.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and performance investigations for incidents, implementing long‑term remediation plans.
- Manage and resolve customer requests related to software issues while ensuring minimal service impact.
- Perform proactive maintenance activities based on system alerts and automated monitoring tools.
- Participate in evaluating new technologies through proof‑of‑concept initiatives.
- Provide on‑call support and be available for exceptional operational needs such as overtime, night work, or standby.
What We're Looking For
- More than 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure administration.
- Experience across Cloud, Network, and Security technologies, including AWS, Azure, and Google platforms.
- Proficiency with AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, ECS, S3, EBS, Glacier, ELB, Elastic IPs).
- Skills with Azure technologies (e.g., Azure VMs, AKS, ACS, Functions, Event Grid, Storage, DNS, VPN Gateway).
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
- Knowledge of software architecture, procedural programming (Python, JavaScript), and ITIL principles.
- Strong understanding of security best practices.
- Skills in office IT systems, technologies, hardware, and software.
- Strong documentation, analytical, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage pressure, prioritise effectively, and handle multiple requests.
- Detail‑oriented with a results-driven mindset.
- Comfortable working within distributed and remote teams.
- Customer‑focused, collaborative, and able to positively influence customer experience.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
