Highmark Health is seeking a Sumer 2026 Analytic Enablement Graduate Intern to explore and prototype novel applications of Generative AI and Agentic AI within the healthcare payer domain. In this role, you will work to transition innovative AI ideas into practical solutions that enhance analytic capabilities and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and evaluate proof-of-concept applications leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and autonomous AI agents.
- Research the latest advancements in Agentic AI frameworks and Generative AI techniques, assessing their applicability to core healthcare payer operations.
- Conduct experiments in prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and embedding generation to optimize LLM performance and minimize 'hallucination' for healthcare-specific data.
- Partner with data science, engineering, and business subject matter experts to gather requirements, understand data structures, and ensure prototypes align with business value.
- Clearly document methodology, code, and results. Present findings and recommendations to the Analytic Enablement leadership team and technical peers.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Currently enrolled in a master's or PhD program in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a closely related quantitative field.
Technical Stack
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Agentic AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI)
Team & Environment
You will work alongside AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Product owners, and Business SMEs.
