WSP USA Inc. is hiring a Vice President, Structural Engineering to provide high-level technical direction for building and infrastructure projects. You will manage and mentor engineers within our Property & Buildings team, ensuring project excellence and adherence to industry codes.
What You'll Do
- Apply advanced structural engineering techniques to improve building project phases.
- Perform professional structural engineering work, including site condition research and inspections for standards conformance.
- Develop construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, safety plans, and layout plans, coordinating with owners and clients.
- Manage the design, construction, rehabilitation, and remediation of building projects from inception to completion.
- Incorporate advanced technologies, building materials, and modeling techniques to ensure safety and functionality.
- Oversee cross-functional teams of engineers, architects, and planners across concurrent projects, managing budgets and schedules.
- Coordinate, review, and approve building and infrastructure design plans for code and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare data visualizations, technical reports, and presentations to explain research, concepts, and recommendations.
- Analyze site investigation data to develop risk mitigation action plans.
- Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Interact professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
- Collaborate with other engineers, professionals, and authorities on development projects and business opportunities.
- Remain current with the latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior structural or civil design work.
- Valid Professional Engineer license.
- Proficiency with structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and project application.
- Knowledge and experience with building structural planning, design, and construction management.
- Working knowledge of sustainability processes and concepts for reducing hazardous substances and greenhouse gas.
- Well-defined knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
- Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving engineering principles and regulations.
- Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on building construction and design.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and guide junior team members.
- High proficiency with technical writing, office automation, structural software (ETABS or RAM), BIM, math, physics, and spreadsheets.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and directing subcontractors.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by health and safety policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond a typical workweek.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required.

- Master's Degree in Engineering (structural).
- Structural Engineering (SE) license.
