Direct Edge Media, Inc. is looking for a hands-on Structural Designer to join our structural design department. You will guide and work with the team to develop effective, creative, and production-ready display solutions, combining creative problem-solving with technical mentorship to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient concepts that meet client needs.
What You'll Do
- Combine creativity with structural engineering expertise to craft unique, standout display moments.
- Adhere to brand standards, modifying existing 2D artwork to align with 3D models for proposals.
- Prepare print-ready files for prototype production, maintaining consistency and established protocols.
- Oversee projects from concept to completion, converting marketing objectives into effective designs.
- Ensure files are properly prepared for print using industry-standard production techniques.
- Coordinate with internal teams and clients to manage artwork revisions and approvals.
- Manage multiple projects, prioritizing tasks, staying organized, and meeting deadlines.
- Collaborate with team members to develop creative and structural design solutions.
- Operate a cutting table to produce white sample prototypes.
- Design and produce products optimized for efficient shipping and fulfillment.
- Work closely with account managers, creative, prepress, and production teams for seamless handoffs.
- Support quoting, sampling, and production readiness, ensuring structural files are accurate and complete.
- Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives that elevate the department's standards.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned, with willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in structural or 3D display design.
- Expertise in ArtiosCAD, Illustrator, and 3D visualization software (e.g., KeyShot, SketchUp, or Rhino).
- Strong understanding of corrugate, folding carton, foam core, and mixed-material display design.
- Proven ability to balance creativity, cost-efficiency, and speed-to-market.
- Skilled at analyzing client renders and developing structurally feasible designs.
- Excellent communication and independent leadership skills; able to inspire and motivate peers.
- Solid understanding of large format printing, offset printing, CAD cutting, and traditional die cutting.
- Experience working in a leadership or mentorship role.
