What You'll Do
Take ownership of the most challenging engineering tasks, including deep architectural changes, performance optimization, and mission-critical features. You'll shape the evolution of our platform by designing and implementing scalable solutions that directly impact product reliability and developer experience.
- Lead development on advanced capabilities such as identity integration, access controls, and audit systems
- Refine and expand billing infrastructure with usage tracking, subscription logic, and Stripe integration
- Enhance the developer interface through tools like API explorers and dashboard enhancements
- Conduct thorough code reviews to improve team-wide quality and mentor others through technical feedback
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks using profiling tools and query analysis
- Design and implement custom algorithms and in-house logic where off-the-shelf solutions fall short
- Work across the stack, shipping polished frontend components using modern design systems
- Ensure secure coding practices by identifying risks and enforcing safeguards in every layer
- Stay ahead of advancements in Rails and AI, integrating improvements that deliver long-term value
- Gradually assume technical leadership, guiding architectural direction and supporting team growth
Requirements
You bring deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and a track record of delivering robust, production-grade applications. You're comfortable working close to the metal when needed—whether compiling native extensions, debugging memory issues, or optimizing for scale.
- Proven experience with complex Rails applications, including performance tuning and system design
- Solid understanding of security principles and common web vulnerabilities
- Hands-on experience with Stripe and subscription-based billing models
- Familiarity with enterprise identity standards such as SAML and SCIM
- Ability to write clean, maintainable frontend code with a focus on usability
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
- Comfort working across system boundaries—from database queries to frontend rendering
