SmartLogic is hiring a Staff Engineer / Senior Developer (Ruby, Elixir, Flutter)

SmartLogic is seeking a Staff Engineer or Senior Developer to provide technical leadership across multiple client projects. In this role, you will guide teams to deliver high-quality software, design robust architectures, and mentor developers while partnering closely with project management and sales.

What You'll Do

• Support and lead teams of 2-6 developers, designers, and QA analysts, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.
• Partner with sales leadership on technical discovery, solution architecture, and estimation for new client opportunities.
• Mentor team members on development processes and leverage modern AI tools to improve speed, quality, and maintainability.
• Provide hands-on leadership for CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and production operations primarily on AWS and Azure.
• Design, review, and support scalable and secure cloud and server architectures.
• Serve as the technical expert on assigned projects, committing code, pair programming, and conducting thorough code reviews.
• Validate technical decisions and support the pre-sales process with solutioning and scope refinement.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience with modern software development practices and custom software creation.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and Elixir with Phoenix.
• 2+ years of experience with Flutter and/or ReactNative.
• 5+ years of experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring.
• 3+ years of experience in a consultancy environment, not just product-based companies.
• Proven experience participating in technical discovery, solution design, and estimation for client-facing projects.
• Practical experience using AI tools to support software development.
• An organized and intentional approach to process, with a demonstrated ability to set and manage expectations.

Team & Environment

You will work within teams of 2-6 developers, designers, and QA analysts, providing technical leadership and mentorship. This role reports to the COO and involves leading project-based teams, though there are no direct reports for supervision.
