Corning is seeking a Staff Application Engineer for its Advanced-Flow Reactor™ (AFR) team. In this role, you will be the primary technical contact for customers in the North American market, bridging their needs with Corning's capabilities. You will actively participate in chemical process development, support equipment commissioning, and ensure seamless process implementation.
What You'll Do
- Understand customer chemistry, products, and value propositions to align with Corning's technical solutions.
- Engage with internal scientists and engineers to demonstrate process feasibility and actively participate in experiments.
- Provide sales support through technical site visits, product presentations, and contributing to scientific papers.
- Lead and support FAT/SAT, installation, training, and commissioning of reactor systems.
- Assist customers with procedural documentation, including IQ/OQ plans and FAT/SAT development.
- Support manufacturing ramp-up, debug issues, collect feedback, and implement fixes.
- Act as the liaison between customer requirements and internal specialists in Engineering, R&D, Sales, and Quality.
- Share on-site customer insights with relevant teams to inform product and roadmap decisions.
- Contribute to the creation of equipment operating procedure manuals.
- Develop and write application notes to support customer success.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on chemical synthesis experience with a strong experimental background.
- Proven experience in safety planning, including risk assessments and creating safety plans.
- Practical experience with a variety of chemical analytical methods.
- Skill in structured experiment planning and execution.
- The ability to work autonomously and proactively at customer sites.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a rigorous and organized approach.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills for a multicultural environment.
- Hands-on technical problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to unexpected situations and changing work subjects.
