Kerno seeks a Staff AI Backend Engineer to build and scale our AI backend systems. This remote position is open exclusively to candidates based within the European Union.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance AI backend services using Java and Kotlin
- Architect scalable systems to support machine learning model deployment and inference
- Lead projects from conception to production, ensuring reliability and performance
- Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to integrate AI capabilities
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Senior or Staff-level engineer building backend systems
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin for backend development
- Demonstrated experience developing systems that support AI or machine learning workloads
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure
