Abercrombie and Fitch Co. is hiring a Sr. UX Designer - Design Systems to lead the evolution of our Design System. You will ensure consistency, scalability, localization, and accessibility across responsive web, native apps, and emerging platforms. Partner with UX designers, engineers, product managers, and brand teams to deliver a token-driven, Figma-based system powering seamless, inclusive experiences for millions of users worldwide.
What You'll Do
- Evolve the Design System by defining visual language, interaction patterns, and component standards using Figma libraries, design tokens, and variable-based theming for multi-platform scalability.
- Implement a sophisticated token architecture, driving adoption of semantic tokens for style foundations to ensure consistency across web and native environments.
- Collaborate with engineering partners to integrate tokens into codebases and ensure parity between design and production using tools like Figma Rest API and Storybook.
- Maintain robust documentation by creating clear, accessible guidelines for components, patterns, and usage principles in Figma.
- Champion accessibility and inclusivity by validating components against WCAG standards and ensuring global usability.
- Mentor and foster design system culture through office hours, tutorials, and workshops to teach best practices for implementing the Design System in workflows and designs.
- Foster design education and community building by creating learning resources, internal documentation, and leading initiatives that promote a culture of design excellence across the organization.
- Advocate for design maturity by presenting new component logic, advising on native and custom patterns to stakeholders, socializing updates, and mentoring designers on system best practices.
- Stay ahead of trends by continuously researching emerging tools like AI-assisted design, variable fonts, advanced prototyping, and MCP servers to keep the system future-ready.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s in Design, HCI, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years minimum in digital product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing design system principles across responsive web and native apps.
- Expertise in Figma, including advanced use of variables, component properties, variants, auto-layout, Dev Mode, and token plugins.
- Familiarity with design-to-code workflows, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, AEM, SwiftUI, and Kotlin.
- Experience with design tokens, variable theming, usage of native components, and cross-platform component architecture.
- Strong understanding of Agile and Design Thinking methodologies.
- Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into scalable design solutions.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills in a remote environment.
- Proficiency in mentoring and teaching others, skilled at guiding designers through design system adoption and best practices to foster growth and knowledge-sharing.
