The Sr. UX Designer leads user-centered research, design, and development initiatives using human-centered systems engineering principles. This role involves guiding UX activities, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to both digital and physical product design within collaborative teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research focused on user needs and perform usability testing to validate design decisions.
- Develop user flows, wireframes, visual styles, interaction models, and UI components.
- Apply user-centered design methodologies to assess existing systems and support the creation of new solutions.
- Communicate design strategies, processes, and findings clearly to team members and stakeholders.
- Select and implement evaluation tools and standards such as the System Usability Scale (SUS) and UI style guides, and support team adoption.
- Supervise junior staff in assigned tasks, demonstrating how individual contributions align with project goals.
- Manage complex design tasks independently while collaborating with peers to meet project objectives.
- Lead engagement with cross-functional teams to gather user requirements and analyze user interaction data to guide design.
- Produce and maintain design prototypes, mockups, style guides, and supporting documentation.
- Lead design review sessions to promote constructive feedback and continuous improvement.
- Promote collaboration and a user-focused mindset, encouraging knowledge exchange and professional growth.
- Advocate for user-centered design practices and provide mentorship to junior researchers.
- Support proposal development and business capture initiatives.
Requirements
- Must possess a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
- Minimum of five years of proven experience in UX or human factors engineering environments.
- Applicants must be U.S. persons due to federal contract requirements and eligibility for U.S. security clearance.
