About the Role
The role involves ensuring products adhere to global environmental and materials compliance standards through evaluation, testing, and coordination with engineering and supply chain teams.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate materials and components for adherence to environmental regulations
- Develop and maintain compliance documentation for international standards
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to integrate compliance early in development
- Conduct audits of supplier data and material declarations
- Support product certifications for global markets
- Monitor changes in environmental legislation affecting hardware production
- Lead efforts to meet RoHS, REACH, and other regulatory requirements
- Assist in resolving non-conformance issues related to materials
- Work with testing labs to validate compliance of parts and assemblies
- Maintain databases of approved materials and substances
- Provide technical guidance on hazardous substance restrictions
- Develop internal standards aligned with regulatory frameworks
- Track environmental compliance metrics across product lines
- Support environmental reporting for space hardware systems
- Ensure proper labeling and data exchange with partners
- Participate in design reviews to assess compliance risks
- Manage documentation for substance exemptions
- Coordinate with legal and regulatory experts on compliance strategy
- Support sustainability initiatives in product design
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes
- Interface with external certification bodies
- Assist in qualifying alternative materials for compliance
- Ensure traceability of materials through supply chain
- Prepare compliance evidence for regulatory submissions
- Advocate for design choices that reduce environmental impact
