Quistor is hiring a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance SQL Server databases. In this remote role, you will ensure optimal performance and availability, handle replication and CDC, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
- Perform in-depth performance tuning and optimization, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, slow queries, and other related issues.
- Analyze wait events and proactively address performance challenges to ensure smooth database operations.
- Oversee and manage database replication strategies, including setup, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and manage Change Data Capture (CDC) processes to enable real-time data integration.
- Monitor database health using various tools, set up alerting mechanisms, and respond to incidents promptly.
- Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately 1 week per quarter) and respond to critical database issues.
- Work closely with cross-functional and cloud teams to plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching.
- Document database configurations, processes, and best practices for internal knowledge resources.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in SQL Server database administration.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Expertise in analyzing and mitigating wait events, bottlenecks, and resource contention.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing database replication and CDC solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery mechanisms.
- Strong proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and resolving database-related performance issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.
- Willingness to further grow on Azure technologies is a must.
- Ability to communicate well in English.
Nice to Have
- Experience with other database systems (Oracle, MySQL, DB2, PostgreSQL) and cloud platforms.
- Azure knowledge.
- Dutch language skills.
