VetsEZ is seeking a SQL Developer / Data Analyst for a remote role supporting a federal healthcare program with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). You will analyze data, develop reports, and support ongoing data migration, integration, and quality monitoring efforts for large clinical datasets.
What You'll Do
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries and scripts for data validation, extracts, and transformation logic.
- Analyze and interpret data from multiple systems to support business intelligence reporting and decision-making.
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand data flows and source-to-target mappings.
- Support the development and refinement of conceptual and physical data models for federal healthcare data warehouses.
- Create and maintain data quality monitoring routines and reports to track migration completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Document findings from exploratory analysis, track anomalies, and support root-cause investigations.
- Assist with creating and maintaining technical documentation, including data dictionaries and validation protocols.
- Support weekly and monthly reporting deliverables by generating custom queries and formatting output for dashboards.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and data review sessions, presenting findings and resolving discrepancies.
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience developing advanced SQL queries and working with large, complex datasets in SQL Server environments.
- Experience analyzing healthcare or clinical data, including familiarity with formats such as HL7, FHIR, or VistA.
- Strong understanding of data structures, indexing, performance tuning, and normalization techniques.
- Experience creating data visualizations and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate technical findings to diverse audiences.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting VA data systems, including VX130, Millennium, or the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW).
- Familiarity with IRIS or Caché database environments and mirrored data architectures.
- Exposure to Agile environments and tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
- Experience supporting data quality or cutover verification activities in EHR transition projects.
- Knowledge of data governance practices and metadata documentation.
- Ability to obtain Federal Government clearance.
