Barclays is hiring a Solution Architect

Barclays is looking for a Solution Architect to join our team in Pune. You will design, develop, and implement solutions to complex business problems, collaborating with stakeholders to understand needs and create solutions that balance technology risks with business delivery. You will be instrumental in driving the evolution of our digital landscape and ensuring unparalleled customer experiences through cutting-edge technology.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop solutions as products that can evolve, meeting business requirements aligned with modern software engineering practices and automated delivery tooling.
• Conduct targeted design activities applying an appropriate workload placement strategy and maximizing the benefit of cloud capabilities such as elasticity, serverless, and containerisation.
• Create best practice designs incorporating security principles like defence in depth and reduction of blast radius that meet the Bank’s resiliency expectations.
• Deliver solutions that appropriately balance risks and controls to achieve agreed business and technology value.
• Adopt standardised solutions where they fit, and feed into their evolution where new solutions are required.
• Support operational teams with fault finding and performance issues, leveraging available tooling.
• Assess solution design impact in terms of risk, capacity, and cost, including estimation of project change and ongoing run costs.
• Develop requisite architecture inputs to comply with the bank's governance processes, including design artefacts for architecture, privacy, security, and records management.
• Lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives, coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.
• Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies or procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
• Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to your work.
• Perform work closely related to other areas, requiring an understanding of how they coordinate to achieve organisational objectives.
• Collaborate with other business-aligned support areas to stay current with business activity and strategy.
• Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.
• Communicate complex information, which could include sensitive content or difficult audiences.
• Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in designing and/or building highly scalable and resilient core payment systems for global financial organizations.
• Expertise in technology domains within payments: DevOps, API, Analytics, Cloud adoption, and Process Automation.
• Good knowledge of SWIFT, SWIFT formats, Payment Gateways, UK and International Payment processing.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Core banking landscape and Products.
• Knowledge of various UK International schemes like FPS, BACS, CHAPS, Target2, SEPA.
• Experience in systems integration projects involving open-source technologies and implementation utilising cloud-based computing and APIs.
