As a Software Engineering Leader, you will guide a tribe of engineering squads responsible for critical data-intensive services that power a global communications platform. You'll balance technical ownership with people leadership, driving both system architecture and team growth.
What You'll Do
- Lead multiple engineering squads, providing coaching, career development, and performance guidance while staying actively involved in technical work
- Design and evolve distributed systems that handle high-volume data processing and billing workflows
- Write, review, and improve production code across services built with modern programming languages and frameworks
- Make key architectural decisions that ensure scalability, reliability, and security across data pipelines
- Collaborate closely with Product to define roadmaps and deliver meaningful customer outcomes
- Champion best practices in engineering, from development lifecycle standards to operational excellence
- Support resolution of complex technical issues and serve as a go-to expert for deep system challenges
- Drive improvements in engineering methods across the broader organization
Requirements
- Proven track record in a technical leadership role combining people management with hands-on engineering
- Strong coding skills in one or more languages such as Java, Golang, Kotlin, or Python
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
- Deep familiarity with real-time data processing, message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ, and stream processing tools such as Flink
- Background in cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and container orchestration with Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of data storage and analytics systems, including technologies like Pinot
- Commitment to agile delivery, iterative development, and modern engineering practices
- Ability to lead with values and principles, balancing technical trade-offs with long-term system health
- Experience mentoring engineers and cultivating a high-performance culture
- Knowledge of security fundamentals and their application in system design
