Vancouver, United States of America Hybrid Employment $20 - $25/hour

Digs is hiring a Software Engineering Intern- Test Automation (Spring 2026)

About the Role

As a Software Engineering Intern in Test Automation for Spring 2026, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and quality of our applications. Over 12 weeks starting in April, you’ll build and refine end-to-end automated tests using Playwright, focusing on real user workflows across desktop and mobile platforms. Your work will directly impact how confidently we ship new features and improvements.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain robust end-to-end tests that validate critical application paths, including edge cases and multi-user interactions.
  • Create reusable test components such as Page Object Models and shared utilities to support consistent, scalable testing practices.
  • Improve test data strategies using factories and isolation techniques to keep tests fast, repeatable, and independent.
  • Reduce test flakiness and strengthen the accuracy of our continuous integration pipeline.
  • Implement visual regression testing to detect unintended UI changes early in the development cycle.
  • Optimize test execution in CI/CD through better parallelization and reporting.
  • Collaborate on frontend and backend feature development, bringing a testing-first mindset to every task.
  • Explore and integrate emerging AI-powered testing tools, including those used in agentic automation workflows.
  • Help shape best practices around automated testing, contributing to a culture that values quality and innovation.

Who You Are

You have recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field—or have gained equivalent experience—and are preparing to transition into a full-time engineering role. You care deeply about software quality and enjoy identifying how systems can fail, not just how they function. You’re self-driven, able to define your own testing priorities, and comfortable working with minimal oversight.

You bring experience writing automated tests in academic or personal projects and are eager to expand your skills in a production environment. Familiarity with Playwright, React, TypeScript, or Node.js is a plus, as is interest in AI-assisted development tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude Code. Experience in startup environments or industries related to home building or real estate is valuable but not required.

Environment & Expectations

This is a hybrid role based in Vancouver, WA, requiring in-person collaboration several days per week, with flexibility to support remote work. You’ll participate in virtual meetings and team discussions, contributing ideas and updates in a transparent, inclusive setting. The team values initiative, clear communication, and a long-term mindset, even when moving quickly.

You must be authorized to work in the United States. At this time, sponsorship for employment visas is not available. The internship offers $20 to $25 per hour, includes access to all necessary equipment, and may lead to future opportunities. You’ll work directly with production systems from day one—no placeholder projects—and have the autonomy to influence how testing evolves within the organization.
