Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is looking for a Software Engineer - Secrets to lead the design and development of advanced secrets management and orchestration solutions. In this role, you will build scalable, secure services that protect sensitive data, credentials, and configurations across diverse cloud-native environments.
What You'll Do
- Architect and develop advanced secrets management capabilities in a distributed cloud environment.
- Build secure, high-performance services for configuration, encryption, and access control across multi-cloud and hybrid systems.
- Collaborate with security and engineering teams to enforce secure development practices and zero-trust principles.
- Lead design and implementation of fault-tolerant, scalable secret management systems.
- Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, and provide technical leadership to continuously enhance platform security.
- Mentor engineers on secure coding and best practices in cloud security.
- Stay current with security trends and drive initiatives to innovate secrets orchestration and configuration management.
What We're Looking For
- 3 to 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in security, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Proven track record building and maintaining security-focused software, especially in secrets management, cryptography, or access control.
- Deep understanding of modern security architectures, zero-trust models, and distributed system security.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, or Rust.
- Experience with cloud-native environments, containers, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and secure coding standards.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with experience mentoring engineers and advocating for secure engineering principles.

- Compensation: $166,000–$209,000 for Senior level, and $180,500–$227,850 for Principal level, plus equity ownership.
