Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Software Engineer, Android to build mobile apps that empower people to take control of their health. In this remote role, you will lead technical initiatives, mentor team members, and help shape architecture decisions for apps used daily by thousands.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver a high-quality mobile experience.
- Contribute 80–90% of your time to hands-on coding, ensuring clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
- Lead large-scale technical projects, anticipating infrastructure needs and making key architectural decisions.
- Serve as a mentor to junior engineers, sharing expertise and fostering growth.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and advocate for the adoption of new tools and best practices.
- Participate in the entire agile development cycle from ideation to deployment.
- Troubleshoot complex challenges, offer scalable solutions, and support a culture of high-quality engineering.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in Android product development with a strong grasp of Kotlin and app architecture best practices.
- Solid understanding of multi-threading, asynchronous programming, and design patterns like MVVM or MVC.
- Hands-on experience with testing frameworks (unit and UI), Android frameworks, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins or CircleCI.
- Familiarity with app submission, signing, and store guidelines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a team-oriented mindset.
- Curiosity, flexibility, and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Jetpack Compose, Android’s Health Connect, Kotlin Multiplatform, or work in regulated industries like healthcare.

- Competitive base salary: California, New York, Washington: $147,200 – $184,000; Colorado: $140,800 – $176,000 (other states may vary).
