Crunchyroll is looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Android video player team in Mexico City. You will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of our Android video player library, taking ownership of key features and collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape our technology roadmap.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the design and implementation of software solutions for Android-based video player development.
- Collaborate on defining and developing technical solutions that improve existing features or enhance architectural quality.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement in the codebase and work with senior engineers to propose and implement solutions.
- Maintain high coding standards and follow best practices in Kotlin development.
- Participate in design and code reviews, providing feedback to ensure high-quality product delivery.
- Support a culture of operational excellence by focusing on efficient and maintainable engineering practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends and Kotlin development technologies.
What We're Looking For
- 3-5 years of industry experience developing in Kotlin.
- Industry experience developing with Jetpack Compose.
- Experience developing and maintaining consumer-facing mobile applications.
- Contributed to Android solutions that serve millions of global users.
- Worked closely with product and program management to support technology roadmaps and project goals.
- Can demonstrate experience collaborating with senior engineers and team leads to drive Android development initiatives.
- Apply sound judgment to balance trade-offs between performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Familiarity with multimedia frameworks like ExoPlayer and protocols like MPEG-DASH, HLS, and video streaming technologies.
