Airbus Americas, Inc. is looking for a Software Developer – Modelling & Simulation to implement complex simulation architectures within the FCAS program and related studies. You will join an agile project team focused on simulation-supported research, developing and extending our in-house simulation tools.
What You'll Do
- Develop and extend our in-house simulation tools with new capabilities, including additional simulation models and interfaces.
- Implement user and system requirements for the simulation of systems.
- Implement and extend military simulations using C++ and Python across all military domains (land, air, sea, space, and cyber).
- Execute work assignments within time, cost, and quality constraints.
- Support the project lead in customer presentations and meetings.
- Implement interfaces for integrating external hardware and software systems into the simulation.
- Support the creation of proposals.
- Collaborate on practical implementation and testing with other specialist departments, industrial partners, and scientific partners like universities and the Fraunhofer Society.
What We're Looking For
- A successfully completed university degree (Bachelor/Master) in Computer Science, Software Development, or a comparable field.
- Initial experience in software development, simulation, and working in software projects.
- Initial practical programming experience in C++ and Python (or comparable languages).
- Fluent German (language level C2) and English (language level B2) skills in spoken and written form.
- National and international willingness to travel.
Nice to Have
- Initial knowledge of key libraries such as Qt for GUI.
- Basic knowledge of agile software development methods (e.g., Scrum); familiarity with the ATLASSIAN toolstack (JIRA, Confluence) is advantageous.
- Initial experience with development environments such as GitHub/Gitlab is advantageous.
- Knowledge in 3D modeling, OpenGL, OpenSceneGraph, or Game Engines (e.g., Unity3D) is advantageous.
