Future Works is hiring a SketchUp Plugin Developer to design, build, and maintain a custom plugin for SketchUp Pro. This role focuses on creating a tool that streamlines interior design workflows by connecting a live furniture catalog to the modeling environment.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain a custom SketchUp Pro plugin.
- Pull a live catalog from REST endpoints.
- Allow designers to filter options by colour, finish, availability, price, and other criteria.
- Let designers drop simplified proxy models into layouts with correct dependencies and spacing.
- Ensure the plugin operates seamlessly within SketchUp’s native undo/redo stack.
- Export selected furniture objects (model slices, transforms, materials) as single or multiple FBX files.
- Include camera data tied to SketchUp Scenes in the export.
- Create a small sidecar JSON file if FBX can’t store every detail to keep the exported scene in sync with the project database.
What We're Looking For
- Has shipped multiple real SketchUp extensions.
- Knows FBX inside and out.
- Can deliver clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
- Is proactive in solving problems and suggesting improvements.
