Comcast is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to join the CONNECT OpTek team. In this role, you will develop and support the tools and applications used by Comcast field technicians to diagnose and troubleshoot issues across the nationwide network. The position spans the entire product life cycle, involving system maintenance, developer support, and implementing innovative solutions.
What You'll Do
- Provide Infrastructure as Code solutions for a small, cohesive group within Comcast.
- Use Terraform to configure AWS Infrastructure, Kubernetes cluster provisioning, and application provisioning.
- Work with and support developers to help maintain and define best practices.
- Configure, watch, tune, and respond to monitoring events.
- Support an on-call rotation with the SRE team.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Concourse and GoCD.
- Support corporate initiatives, such as security hardening.
- Develop solutions for a wide range of complex applications, problems, or procedures.
- Interpret internal and external business issues and recommend complete solutions based on best practices and proven technologies.
- Work with cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, product managers, and marketing teams to deliver quality products.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship.
- Record development and production support activities in a ticketing tool.
- Ensure project requests are properly accepted into the SRE team and smoothly follow the DevOps life cycle.
- Deploy new systems and software and conduct appropriate testing for successful deployment.
- Provide occasional on-call support.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of coursework and experience.
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Cloud Providers and configuring Infrastructure, particularly AWS.
- Experience with Kubernetes.
- Experience with Configuration Management tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with monitoring systems such as Prometheus, AlertManager, and Grafana.
- Experience with Git.
- Experience with CI/CD Tools.
- Familiarity with ECS/ECR.
- Scripting experience with bash and python 3.
- Experience troubleshooting applications and networking (e.g., Java, Angular, VPCs, Firewalls).
- Experience with Concourse or GoCD.
- An understanding of distributed systems and how the pieces fit together.
