The Senior Tax Specialist will join Back Market's Tax & Legal team in Bordeaux to build tax infrastructure for circular commerce across 17+ countries. This role involves managing indirect and corporate tax compliance, supporting M&A and corporate governance, and collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Product, and Operations teams.
What You'll Do
- Ensure Back Market operates tax-efficiently and compliantly across all markets
- Manage VAT and customs compliance worldwide (EU, UK, APAC) and US sales tax
- Ensure DAC7/data sharing reporting worldwide
- Build compliant invoicing flows for marketplace revenue
- Maintain seller KYC tax policy and handle tax authority requests
- Prepare income tax calculation for French and international entities
- Manage monthly tax closing, transfer pricing calculations and documentation
- Lead R&D tax credit process and support tax audits
- Prepare financial statements approvals and organize shareholder/board meetings
- Draft governance documentation and support restructurings and strategic transactions
- Manage employee equity matters and cap table follow-up
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Product, and Operations on new initiatives
- Manage external advisors and handle EPR obligations
What We're Looking For
- Master's in Business Tax Law (or equivalent qualification with strong tax expertise)
- 5+ years of tax experience in Big Four, law firm, or in-house roles
- Strong analytical and data skills - Comfortable with Excel, BigQuery, Tableau, and AI tools
- Clear communication ability - You explain complex tax topics to non-tax stakeholders
- Proactive mindset - You spot issues early and propose pragmatic solutions
- Fluency in French and English

- E-commerce or digital economy experience
- Corporate law exposure (M&A, governance)
- Multi-jurisdictional tax experience
