Affirm is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join the Repayment UX Engineering team. You will be responsible for building the tools and systems that power customer loan repayments. Your work will directly support the Repayments Nexus, designing robust systems to maintain a healthy loan portfolio and enable our international growth.
What You'll Do
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
- Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product, design, and analytics.
- Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
- Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics and supporting on-call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards.
- Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
- Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
- Fluency in back end development, and batch processing using technologies like Airflow, Spark, Data Lake and Snowflake.
- Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design.
- Proficient at making significant changes in a large code base, with a suite of tools and practices to do so safely.
- Takes ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
