About the Role

The role involves building foundational backend systems that support customer interactions across vehicle and digital platforms, working closely with engineers and product teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers and technical leads across departments to deliver integrated systems that support customer engagement inside and outside the vehicle.
  • Lead end-to-end architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, resilient backend systems with a focus on performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define requirements and convert them into actionable technical deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain single sign-on and identity management solutions for secure access across web, mobile, and in-vehicle applications for both internal and external users.
  • Enforce software development best practices, including code quality, testing, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Guide and support junior developers through mentorship and technical coaching to foster professional growth.
  • Keep pace with evolving technologies and industry advancements to enhance development processes and system capabilities.
  • Maintain ownership of team-managed services, including 24/7 on-call support for incident response and system stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of professional software development experience with backend technologies.
  • Strong communication abilities, with skill in explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-moving, team-oriented environment while also working independently.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or Ruby.
  • Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
  • Background in identity and access management systems such as Azure AD, AWS Cognito, LDAP, Okta, or Keycloak.
  • Solid grasp of software architecture principles, design patterns, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a drive to resolve complex technical challenges efficiently.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in manufacturing or automotive industry settings.
  • Practical experience developing on AWS using Go or Python.
  • Full-stack development experience across frontend and backend systems.

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position with a base salary and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. The initial base salary range for California is $154,000 - $187,000. Final offer depends on candidate qualifications, skills, and experience. The bonus program is predefined and not negotiable. Internal leveling code: IC9
