LVT is looking for a Senior Scientist I in Analytical Chemistry to serve as a senior-level technical expert. You will lead complex chemical analyses and interpret results to support quality control, product development, and troubleshooting for concrete and construction materials. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and requires deep expertise in the isolation, characterization, and quantification of inorganic and organic compounds.
What You'll Do
- Perform complex analytical testing using techniques like HPLC, GC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, SEC, thermal analysis, particle size analysis, and microscopy.
- Develop, validate, and maintain analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Provide accurate and timely analytical results, reports, and interpretations to internal stakeholders.
- Identify and characterize unknown organic and inorganic compounds, especially in support of Field Service, Manufacturing, and Product Development.
- Ensure strict adherence to accepted standards.
- Maintain laboratory instruments, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales) to resolve technical challenges and support new product development.
- Lead or participate in client meetings, audits, and provide technical consulting for external stakeholders.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff on instrumentation, methodology, and safety practices.
- Follow all appropriate Environmental Protection, Safety, Health (EHS) policies and report unsafe conditions and accidents immediately.
- Understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
- A Master's or higher degree in Analytical Chemistry.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in an industrial analytical laboratory setting.
- Substantial experience in polymer characterization.
- Substantial experience in extraction techniques and trace compound analysis.
Nice to Have
- A Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry.
- Greater than 4 years of industrial analytical chemistry experience.
