Responsibilities
- Lead the development and refinement of a practical test strategy for React Native, emphasizing an efficient test pyramid that balances end-to-end, component, and unit testing.
- Make informed decisions balancing test coverage, execution speed, and result reliability across the mobile application.
- Establish and enforce clear quality standards for mobile releases, ensuring all code meets shipping criteria.
- Develop and maintain robust end-to-end mobile test suites using Maestro, including infrastructure for test data, device setup, utilities, and reporting.
- Integrate testing pipelines into GitHub Actions for continuous integration, enabling fast and dependable feedback on pull requests and release candidates.
- Reduce test instability and accelerate failure diagnosis by treating flaky tests as failures and requiring root cause analysis.
- Incorporate artificial intelligence into daily workflows to speed up test creation, analyze failure patterns, assess coverage, and suggest improvements.
- Evaluate when AI-driven testing adds value and when manual oversight is essential, prioritizing trustworthiness over breadth.
- Guide broader adoption of AI-assisted practices within the mobile team, including prompt design, safety measures, and code review standards.
- Proactively prevent defects by collaborating early with product and engineering teams, challenging unclear requirements, and identifying risks before development begins.
- Link production incident data from observability tools like Datadog, Sentry, and Grafana back to testing gaps to improve coverage and prevent recurrence.
- Conduct focused exploratory testing on high-impact or high-risk releases when appropriate.
