Kiln is hiring a Senior Protocol Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. You will be responsible for the technical due diligence on new protocols we evaluate, running them in testnet, and acting as a key technical expert for both internal teams and external partners.
What You'll Do
- Perform technical due diligence on new protocols being considered for Kiln’s roadmap.
- Run protocols in testnet on Kiln servers before transitioning them to the Infrastructure team for mainnet production.
- Act as a technical expert on relevant protocols, answering questions and creating educational content for internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with protocol foundation teams.
- Represent Kiln at ecosystem events.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in the crypto industry with a demonstrated passion for following its developments, including a solid understanding of protocols, staking, and DeFi.
- 3+ years of DevOps experience with a very strong focus on Kubernetes.
- You have hands-on experience running validator nodes yourself, either professionally or as a hobbyist.
- An analytical mind and rigorous communication skills; you excel at synthesizing complex information and conveying learnings both orally and in writing.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup/scale-up environment.
- Curiosity and the ability to deeply research a topic and take ownership to follow through.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with high-availability systems at scale.
- Experience designing, building, and deploying user-facing and/or API-based products.
- Previous work in SOC2, ISO 27001, or other certified environments.

- Infrastructure: AWS, GCP, bare metal, Kubernetes, Terraform, Terragrunt, Prometheus, Thanos, Helm, Hashicorp Vault, FluxCD.
- Software: Golang, Typescript, PHP, PostgreSQL, Solidity.
- Tooling: GitHub Actions, Grafana, GitOps CI/CD pipelines.
