Responsibilities
- Lead technical design delivery for wastewater non-infrastructure projects from start to finish, ensuring engineering quality, regulatory adherence, financial performance, and client contentment.
- Coordinate diverse design teams including process, civil, mechanical, electrical, ICA, and environmental specialists to execute major water treatment, network, and resilience projects.
- Develop and sustain effective working relationships with water utility clients, delivery partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide forward-thinking leadership to consistently meet or surpass project goals, legal obligations, and industry benchmarks.
- Guide UK-based design teams in delivering unified, efficient, and innovative engineering solutions.
- Promote a cooperative, digitally integrated, and commercially focused environment that advances programme success.
- Assist in formulating design strategies, option evaluations, technical assessments, and risk reduction plans in line with asset management plans and regulatory obligations.
- Support business expansion by aiding client engagement, uncovering new opportunities, and influencing future water sector initiatives.
- Coach junior design managers and engineers to grow talent and enhance regional team strength.
- Manage and administer NEC3/4 Option A, C, and E ECC contracts from the client perspective.
- Oversee project budgeting and financial control.
- Work with quantity surveyors on payment assessments and certification of monthly payments under NEC4 ECC and PSC contract forms.
- Collaborate with QS on forecasting actual costs and determining Defined Cost.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with internal departments and external partners.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of project and commercial records per contract terms and manage any contractual matters.
- Prepare and issue contract notices such as Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and General Communications following industry best practices.
- Carry out initial project setup, cost projections, and feasibility analyses.
- Draft tender documents for procurement processes.
- Assess submitted tenders for technical and commercial suitability.
- Identify project risks and create strategies to mitigate them.
- Engage contractors early during design development to improve outcomes.
- Administer and manage construction phase contracts.
- Track project spending and ensure healthy cash flow management.
- Lead assessment and negotiation of change orders or variations.
- Handle claims and support resolution of disputes.
