A. O. Smith Corp. is looking for a Senior Project Manager to oversee and manage all engineering project assignments and a team of professional engineers and technicians. You will serve as a key member of the Engineering Management team, involved in long-range planning and accountable for all project cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of engineers and technicians in project development to ensure successful implementation according to customer requirements and company standards.
- Review project proposals, including drawings and specifications, to determine feasibility, risk, and estimated costs.
- Develop and implement standards, procedures, and controls to ensure project reliability.
- Provide knowledge and insight to assist in developing business and facility strategies for product line growth.
- Interact with both internal and external customers to develop, negotiate, and gain approval of proposals and contracts.
- Directly and indirectly manage a team of support staff for project completion, including workflow, assignments, and training.
- Manage activities to resolve technical developments, scheduling issues, and design test problems.
- Evaluate, recommend, and approve design changes and specifications.
- Monitor and provide guidance for Engineers and Technicians on complex project development.
- Review and approve project expense estimates and control expenditures within budget.
- Conduct performance reviews and address training and staffing needs for the engineering group.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of related work experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience with project engineering.
- Managerial experience within an engineering environment.
- Excellent mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical reports.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and influence a work team.
- Proven history of timely and successful product development in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
