SPACE44 is looking for a Senior PHP Developer to join our team on a freelance, remote basis. You will be focused on crafting high-quality backend solutions for a proprietary ERP system, designing scalable logic, integrating AI models, and working collaboratively within our multicultural environment.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop scalable backend logic using PHP and the Symfony framework, focusing on performance, modularity, and maintainability
- Contribute to the evolution of our ERP platform, building complex business logic and workflow automation
- Develop and maintain Symfony-based applications with modern PHP practices and design patterns
- Utilize Git for source control and participate in regular code reviews
- Work with relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL) for structured data operations
- Build robust APIs and backend services that integrate with various business systems
- Ensure stability and resilience through proper testing and monitoring
- Contribute to integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into system logic
- Support deploying and orchestrating LLMs using frameworks like Hugging Face or LangChain
- Contribute to generative AI-based backend logic including summarization, code assistance, and content automation
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 6 years of backend development experience with strong PHP proficiency
- Demonstrated experience with the Symfony framework in production applications
- Hands-on familiarity with version control systems like Git
- Proficiency in relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Experience with generative AI tools like Gemini or GitHub Copilot
- Experience working in asynchronous remote teams with high autonomy
- BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Fluent in English; based in Europe for legal and logistical alignment
Nice to Have
- Experience contributing to ERP platforms or complex backend business logic
- Demonstrated experience deploying and using LLMs (e.g., Hugging Face, LangChain) in backend applications
- Experience with prompt design and AI interaction optimization
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker
- Understanding of performance monitoring and optimization for AI-integrated services
- Interest in mentoring or helping shape backend integration strategies involving AI
