0x is hiring a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the development of Matcha Mobile, a greenfield React Native application. You will make decentralized trading as effortless on mobile as it is on the web. This is a foundational role where you'll own the architecture, performance, and product experience end-to-end.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship Matcha’s new React Native app for iOS and Android from the ground up.
- Design robust architecture, state management, and in-app infrastructure including CI/CD, telemetry, and feature flags.
- Implement high-performance mobile UX with snappy lists, smooth gestures, fast load times, and secure wallet flows.
- Collaborate closely with design and product to prototype, iterate, and ship features quickly and safely.
- Write clean, modern TypeScript and React Native code with proper typing, linting, and testing coverage using tools like Jest and Detox/Maestro.
- Help define the mobile engineering culture through code reviews, pairing, testing discipline, and continuous performance tuning.
- Contribute to open discussions on design trade-offs and product priorities with a user-first mindset.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of mobile engineering experience with deep fluency in React Native and TypeScript.
- Proven track record of shipping complex mobile apps, ideally from blank repo to App Store/Play Store.
- Hands-on experience with modern RN patterns: custom hooks, Zustand/Recoil, Reanimated, FlatList optimization, memoization, and performance profiling.
- Experience working on crypto wallets or DeFi mobile products like Matcha, MetaMask, Safe, Uniswap, Phantom, Rainbow, Rabby, or Backpack.
- You understand key management, signing flows, transaction UX, and Web3 connectivity such as WalletConnect and EIP-155.
- Understanding of native modules and when to use them for crypto or performance-critical tasks; knowledge of Objective-C, Swift, Java, or Kotlin is a plus.
- Strong debugging habits and comfort profiling on real devices across Android and iOS.
- Familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines, incremental rollouts, and feature flagging.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; you think out loud, stay calm under pressure, and embrace feedback.
- A low-ego, ownership-driven approach to building great products with others.
- Ability and willingness to attend two in-person team meet-ups per year anywhere in the world.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of mobile security and key management best practices.
- Prior native app development experience for iOS or Android.
- Familiarity with analytics pipelines and A/B testing on mobile.
- Contributions to open source React Native or Web3 libraries.
