Role Overview
A Senior Medical Writer is expected to independently produce scientifically rigorous, strategically sound, and clearly written content across multiple therapeutic domains. This role blends deep scientific knowledge with project ownership, requiring consistent attention to accuracy, style, and client objectives within a collaborative agency framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough and timely research using credible scientific sources and internal resources
- Develop high-quality content from concept to final delivery, ensuring scientific accuracy, strategic alignment, and grammatical precision, with guidance from leadership
- Apply annotations and formatting in accordance with brand-specific guidelines and AMA standards
- Take full responsibility for the scientific integrity and quality of all written materials
- Stay informed about therapeutic areas, product landscapes, and competitive dynamics, offering insights and recommendations to internal teams
- Follow established internal workflows and meet agreed-upon deadlines set by cross-functional groups
- Participate actively in client-facing discussions as part of a team, with increasing responsibility over time
- Communicate confidently and knowledgeably about content during client interactions
- Develop trusted relationships with clients through consistent demonstration of subject matter expertise
- Occasionally serve as the primary medical contact for clients, supported by management
- Collaborate with supervisors and account teams to ensure a cohesive, professional client experience across all touchpoints
- Clarify the function of medical writing within the broader agency structure and help shape team norms
- Share strategic approaches and best practices to enhance team performance and efficiency
- Model high standards in scientific quality, productivity, and workflow discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in medical communications or a related field
