Zencastr is hiring a Senior Media Engineer to lead the design and implementation of major software components, systems, and features for podcasting technology. You will work on high-performance, low-latency applications involving codecs, encoding, transcoding, media containers, and streaming.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement major software components, systems, and features.
- Work with codecs, encoding, transcoding, media containers, and streaming.
- Build high-performance, low-latency applications.
- Work on bleeding-edge technology for video and audio processing.
- Deploy audio/video pipelines on edge devices.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of C/C++ experience.
- Significant experience with codecs, encoding, transcoding, media containers, and streaming.
- Good understanding of computer science fundamentals (heap vs stack, time complexities, patterns).
- Deep experience writing C/C++.
- Open to writing TypeScript sometimes.
- Eye for performance and speed.
- Team player with good communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in high traffic, low latency applications.
- Digital Signal Processing experience.
- Experience working with bleeding edge technology of video and audio processing.
- Experience deploying audio/video pipelines on edge devices.
- Significant open source contributions.
- Passion for high-performance applications.

- Eye for code quality and best practices in engineering, security, and design.
