Speak is hiring a Senior Learning Designer - ESL/EFL Curriculum for Global Learners

Shape the future of language learning by leading curriculum design for English learners worldwide. In this role, you'll develop pedagogically sound, engaging materials tailored to diverse proficiency levels, ensuring content is both effective and accessible across global markets.

What You'll Do

  • Design and write original lesson content, activities, and vocabulary resources in English, adapting tone and complexity for learners at various stages
  • Lead full-cycle content projects from concept to delivery, coordinating with contributors and maintaining clear timelines and accountability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones, aligning on learner needs, product goals, and regional nuances
  • Analyze user feedback, performance data, and QA outcomes to refine materials and improve learning outcomes
  • Contribute to long-term strategy by helping define quarterly and annual priorities for English language learning
  • Support team growth by participating in peer reviews, sharing best practices, and improving content workflows
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all materials within your domain, upholding high standards for instructional design

What We're Looking For

  • Native-level proficiency in English, with a strong ability to craft clear, engaging instructional content
  • Proven background in developing ESL/EFL curriculum, particularly within an ed tech or digital learning environment
  • Deep understanding of language acquisition principles and learner psychology across proficiency levels
  • Strong project management skills, with experience guiding collaborative projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, especially in remote, cross-cultural settings
  • Comfort using digital tools like Notion, Slack, AI assistants, and cloud storage platforms to streamline content creation
  • A passion for leveraging technology to make language learning more effective and accessible

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working in or with EFL markets such as France, Japan, Korea, Latin America, Taiwan, or Vietnam
  • Familiarity with AI applications in education or content development

Work Environment

This is a globally distributed role with team members across San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Ljubljana. You'll work in a flexible, collaborative setting that values clear communication, mutual respect, and shared craftsmanship.
