Lead the management of a core investment portfolio within a leading UK financial services provider, with primary responsibility for the Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) and annuity investment strategies. This role sits at the intersection of risk, performance, and strategic execution, ensuring portfolios are aligned with long-term objectives and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily oversight of investment portfolios in partnership with external asset managers, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and strategic goals.
- Track and evaluate investment performance, risk exposure, and liability-driven investment (LDI) benchmarks, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and robustness.
- Manage derivative positions and collateral programmes in line with asset-liability management (ALM) policies and regulatory limits.
- Support the integration of new BPA transactions, guiding investment ramp-up and ensuring compliance with strategic and risk parameters.
- Coordinate comprehensive investment reporting, delivering accurate analysis and timely responses to internal and external queries.
- Collaborate across finance, commercial, and risk functions to advance investment strategy and secure necessary approvals.
- Provide technical insight during the onboarding of new assets and the development of tailored BPA investment solutions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven background in investment management, ALM, and Solvency II or Solvency UK frameworks within insurance, asset management, banking, or consulting.
- Professional qualification such as FIA/FFA, CFA, or equivalent is required.
- Strong grasp of annuity portfolio instruments, including fixed income and derivatives.
- Familiarity with Matching Adjustment rules and associated investment governance structures.
- Excellent communication abilities, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Highly analytical, with strong numerical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of constructive challenge in complex environments.
- Team-oriented mindset with leadership potential and the ability to act as a senior deputy when needed.
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid model, with flexibility to split time between home and office locations in Edinburgh or London. Approximately half of working time can be spent remotely, supporting a balanced and adaptable schedule.
