Responsibilities
- Review and submit Canadian indirect tax filings including GST/HST, PST, and Luxury Tax with accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile tax-related accounts, validate data integrity, and retain supporting records.
- Track evolving Canadian indirect tax regulations and propose updates to systems or procedures.
- Lead audit coordination for both U.S. and Canadian indirect tax examinations, including data collection, analysis, communication, and serving as main liaison.
- Develop defense documentation, evaluate audit results, and assist in resolution discussions.
- Perform research on tax regulations and preserve documentation to support compliance.
- Execute corrective measures and refine processes to minimize audit exposure and enhance controls.
- Identify and deploy automation solutions to increase efficiency in tax reporting and reconciliation.
- Work cross-functionally with accounting, finance, and IT departments to improve data accuracy and strengthen tax workflows.
- Maintain thorough records of tax procedures to meet internal policy and external audit requirements.
- Support special projects such as tax analysis, system integrations, and process optimization.
- Provide input on tax risk evaluations and advise on indirect tax implications of new business initiatives, products, or transactions.
